Program Overview

The Accounting Technician certificate program will help you develop proficiency as an entry-level accounting professional with courses covering accounting fundamentals, key business skills, and popular computerized accounting software. Learners will gain technical accounting skills and how learn how to prepare financial statements, budgets, tax-returns, payroll and financial records using modern accounting software including Quickbooks and Sage50.

Topics covered will include manual bookkeeping and accounting processes, financial statements, budget and financial record preparation as well as development of written and oral business communication skills. You will also gain essential administrative and support skills to ensure the smooth operation of any office.

This program is licensed under Alberta’s Private Vocational Training Act (PVTA). Only the licensed programs under PVTA are open to international students.

Admissions

Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
  • Consumer/Essential Mathematics 40S or equivalent
  • International students with credentials from India are eligible with completion of Grade 10 Mathematics (as part of Indian curriculum)
  • Students will be required to obtain a laptop for completing course requirements

ELP Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency in addition to the program admission requirements. All English Language Proficiency tests must have been obtained within two years of the start date of the program.

  • IELTS Academic:  IELTS 6.0, no subscore below 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT: 68; no skill score below 17 Listening; 16 Speaking; 18 Reading; 18 Writing
  • PTE Academic: PTE Academic 50

Practical Applied Culture and Employment (PACE)

Practical Applied Culture and Employment (PACE) is a co-requisite for the program. This 120-hour course will prepare you to work or study in a multicultural professional setting in the Canadian context as well as develop the skills necessary to study or work in a multicultural environment.

PACE can be completed online in conjunction with your studies at Robertson.
