Additionally, improving your language skills will help you perform effectively in diverse global work environments.
Week 6: Arrival in Calgary & Settlement Services
Before the in-person classes begin, you are required to arrive in Calgary one week prior to week 7 to complete settlement services. These services support you with the initial steps of settling in Canada, such as arranging accommodation (homestay or room rental), setting up a mobile phone, opening a bank account, registering for provincial health insurance, obtaining a driver’s license, getting a SIN number, and acquiring a transit card. Settlement services ensure that you can start your life in Canada smoothly.
Weeks 7-11: In-Person Classes & Hands-On Experience
After completing the settlement services, you will attend in-person classes and practical learning sessions in Calgary from week 7 to week 11. During this period, you will engage in advanced training on workplace success and job skills, learning the practical skills needed in a professional environment. This experience allows you to build hands-on expertise and strengthen the critical skills necessary for successful employment preparation.
