We offer you lifetime employment support. If you lose your job, we will work with you to obtain another one with the goal of getting you to permanent residency, if that is your goal.

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) Pilot Pathway FAQ

What is the MPNP Pilot Pathway at Robertson College?

The MPNP, in consultation with IRCC, established a pilot employment pathway for Robertson College students in 2019. This pathway is for specific programs considered in demand by MPNP and has successfully guided over 200 students in the past five years.

What are the eligibility criteria for the MPNP Pilot Program?

1) Post-secondary graduation certificate and transcript from Robertson College.

2) IELTS General with a minimum of 6 in all four bands or CELPIP with a minimum of 7 in all four bands.

3) Job offer from a Manitoba company (full-time permanent or a minimum 1-year contract).

How does the internship (Practicum) work in the Robertson Pathway?

Robertson College sets up internships with employers who understand the pathway. If you perform well, the employer will likely hire you. If not, Robertson College will assist in finding other employment options until you are employed.

What is the process for MPNP applications through the Robertson Pathway?

MPNP applications take 1-3 months to process. Robertson College helps with the Expression of Interest (EOI) application. If you don’t have enough points, MPNP will issue a code to allow your application to proceed. Robertson College also assists with the main MPNP application and has the support of a dedicated agent processing these applications.

What are the success rates for students in the Robertson Pathway?

Students who meet the IELTS or CELPIP requirements and demonstrate a good attitude at work have a 100% success rate in reaching their goals under the Robertson Pathway.

What happens after my MPNP application is approved?

Once approved, you can apply for a work permit and start working as soon as you apply, provided your study permit is still valid. You are eligible for a 2-year closed work permit, meaning you will work with one employer until you obtain a Permanent Residency (PR). If you need to change employers, you must inform MPNP and apply for a new closed work permit. You can also apply for PR on the same day you apply for your work permit.

What support does Robertson College provide in the Robertson Pathway?

The pathway is fully supported by the Robertson College Workforce team, including career services and employment support. Students who meet the IELTS or CELPIP requirements and maintain a good attitude at work have a high success rate in achieving their goals under this pathway.

How long does it take to process an MPNP application through the Robertson Pathway?

MPNP applications in the Robertson Pathway typically take 1-3 months to process.

Can I apply for a work permit and permanent residency at the same time?

Yes, when your MPNP application is approved, you can apply for a work permit and permanent residency (PR) on the same day.

What happens if I need to change employers while on a closed work permit?

If you need to change employers while on a closed work permit, you must inform MPNP and apply for a new closed work permit.
